Gender by far takes the higher status in Japan. But I'm sure she will always go by "Ayumi Hamasaki". Just on forms and stuff she might have to write Ayumi Schwartz. But honestly I doubt she will even change her name at all; you don't absolutely HAVE to when you get married.
The more I think about it, the more I think that her marrying a western man is probably the best option for her. Ayu is pretty out there by Japanese standards for a woman so marrying a western man probably will provide her with more freedom to continue her career as she wants to. I know that sounds pretty stone agey, but although things are changing in Japan, that is still considered the norm.
