Maybe they're hoping if they settle for a subdued style for the best of, people will be drawn to it based on its appearance alone? I've noticed that for a few other solo female artists (save Koda Kumi), the covers for their compilation albums are pretty plain and stark, usually close ups of their faces or just simple, laid-back shoots. I have to admit, it makes you kind of curious about the sort of music contained within.
Though I can't lie. I'd love to have them use a cover as epic as Kuon no Kawa.
