It is I think. Lions stand for bravery, which was one of the most honorable things you could be in the "old days".

Both contain lions. Basically, animals are used to represent different parts of the country (F.ex; polar bears for Greenland in the danish royal coat of arms) they also tend to contain the highest order of the country; the elephant at the bottom of the danish coat represents the order of the Elephant in DK. They also represent personality traits, but yeah, it can mean a lot of different things.
