Are the younger 48 groups meant to be different from each other or are they meant to compliment each other since they share a lot of the same AKB stage songs? |
AKB48 is of course, the flagship so anything xxx48 related has some ties to them. Newer groups (with the exception of SDN) use their old songs and stages to perform until Aki-P writes them their own original material.
SKE48 is the "little sister" group of AKB so their image is younger and their songs and dances tend to be more energetic and lively. Like this:
NMB48 is more like you described. They're just a Namba based AKB48. Since they're just releasing their first single it's hard to tell what their overall sound will be or morph into.
HKT48 is just wrapping up auditions but they'll probably be more or less like NMB.
