I'm not really an IU fan and never have been, so I feel kind of weird coming in here to post my opinion on the album, but I figured I'd give it a shot since I took the time to sit down and give the album a serious listen. I downloaded the album because you guys loved it and the MV for Neorang Na was really well done. I didn't like the song (except for the beginning and part right after the first chorus), but I decided to try the album out anyways.
First of all, the composition for most of the songs feels really random. Nothing really flows well. None of the songs sound like they have a clear idea of how they want to sound. It's all lacking direction, like the composers and arrangers didn't really know what kind of sound they were actually going for. They seemed to have wanted the album to be cute and whimsical, but didn't really know how to achieve that, and kind of missed a few steps along the way.
Second, the music is mixed too quiet, so her vocals completely overpower the music in every song. And it's not just that the vocals are too loud. It's like, in many parts of many of the songs, you can't really even hear the music behind the vocals.
I think the album had potential, but it feels like an album that's only about halfway through creation, not a finished product. There's something missing in every part of it.
