The thing is, it's really not about Mannie being that kind of guy. It's about the possible repercussions and they're just taking preventative measures. I don't think it reflects poorly on Mannie. It's just something that at one point or the other has to be done.
When a certain piece of rumour pops up a lot, most of the time there's some grain of truth to it.
