Actually the BAM u mentioned had been coming firstly & quietly since
'Queen of Hip Pop'(2005), with Pink Panther as the album art theme, it was her most commercially successful effort in five years before Play was released.
Later it came a little bigger with single 'Baby Don't Cry' & then album
'PLAY'(2007). Plus 'PLAY' sales(541k) at that time weren't low at all.
So after 'PLAY', everything officially started.
I mean, it's not like her peak came out of nowhere, it did need time and a fine catalyst for long-tearm success
