To be really critical and objective, I'm wondering if you really understand the difference between flat and sharp intonation for vocal production? I agree with you that pretty much all of the time, Ayu is flat in her live performances, but her vocals are definitely not flat in her studio recordings (obviously due to technological enhancements) unless you are solely referring to a personal taste in the timbre she uses to shade her sound. I disagree that she only chooses easy songs to sing though, as the shift in tonality during the pre-chorus of crossroad isn't always easy to grasp with proper intonation for anyone, especially for someone who's also deaf in one ear.
