I think that the problem people are experiencing is not the content itself, but the way it was released. When it comes to Ayu's creative work, I have nothing to say, because even if I don't like it, she put her effort into the song and it likely has some meaning to her.
But, the way avex decided to handle this release, yes, they should be listening to fans. Because they are the ones who are going to buy it. If calling those minis "singles" is what makes fans happy, then a good business should adapt to what customers want. That's the way a business works. They have to do everything within their power (and the law) to make a customer happy. I'm sure its not set in stone that LOVE and again had to be minis.
