My favorite music piece, or just song, is a track called Watch you sleeping by Blue Foundation. I like this song for many reasons. It's a lovely song, most of all, but I also do have a great deal of emotions tied to it. Some sad, some happy. Some just very nostalgic. It might get a bit personal, but there's no way around it if I have to explain why this song is my favorite song.
I've listened to it since late 2008. I didn't love it instantly, but I felt it had something rare and beautiful to it; the instruments are unique and every part of the song goes together so well, though you'd think they wouldn't. There's this really long (about 2 minutes) instrumental part of just the sound of rain falling and instruments playing out this almost hollow, melancholic melody. That was actually the part of the song that struck me as the best, though the song had good lyrics, this instrumental part made me feel way more and created images in my head. It was one of the more beautiful things I'd experienced.
This song didn't become my favorite until early 2010. It was the 2nd of February and I'd just gotten home after spending the night with someone I'd been wanting to get closer to for a long time. I was almost high on happiness. I listened to songs on my Ipod as I was falling asleep, and right when I was hovering in between wakefulness and sleep, this song played. I can't describe just how beautiful and how accurately it described everything I had just experienced that night. I had been the most nervous, sad and lonely, but after that night, I was filled with hope, with happiness and a deep sense of satisfaction.
"I wanna join you sleeping peaceful
Feeling the sun in our room
What a plenty of rays and beaming light
Surely, it does me good"
This song is just filled with good memories to me and everything that is warm, strong and hopeful. And it makes me hope. It makes me happy, makes me believe I am strong and protected. The song itself is lovely, but the memories I have tied to it are so powerful. Which is why it is my favorite song, my favorite piece of music. Everytime I hear it, I have to pause everything I'm doing and lean back to savor every second of it. Even the end, with the rain just dripping down and that lonely tune playing.
