I really don't think that the book was a contributor to the divorce because of the nature of the photos, though it probably didn't help. We all know that Japan has its fetishes, and we're used to this kinda thing from Leslie alone. I think what probably happened was that Mannie realized it could be an opportunity to make some money/launch himself at Ayu and Leslie's expense and was just using her birthday as an excuse. It's not like it was a random, one-of-a-kind, Ayu-only thing like Leslie made it out to be. It's actually part of Leslie's "SUPER" series and he was selling them, even though they were limited. Ayu probably realized this and that's when things went downhill. It's stupid to think Leslie and Ayu's relationship wasn't strained either, but in the end, he was just doing his job as a photographer regardless of Mannie's intentions, and Ayu probably came to this conclusion as well.
