Fact is, whenever my emotions are running high for any reason, I wanna hear someone saying how I feel. I don't wanna hear someone being obnoxiously happy or overconfident or trying to convince themselves "Psh yeah I had a traumatic thing happen and I feel like crap but I AM AWESOME AND HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY." I don't buy it, so I don't like hearing it.

Wallowing in your own grief isn't pretty. When you get older you understand that and you get a better perspective on things. But if playing sad "oh woe is me!" songs helps you, good for you.
As for "fake happy songs", there's nothing wrong with faking thoughts. In fact, if you fake a thought long enough it becomes that way. If you tell yourself you're hot you'll start acting and believing it, you don't need the world to reassure you. You just need to realize you're subconsciously choosing to think the way you do and slowly change it. We're all just feeling what chemicals are being released in our brains. Like forcing a smile stimulates the release of dopamine. And nice snide remark there at how Avril's songs are "fake". You know Ayu is an actress as well 90% of the time -- it's a part of the music industry, her music just happens to resonate with you more.
Also, the songs I mentioned are aggressive, not "happy". I wouldn't be able to listen to HAPPY HAPPY songs when feeling down either (like EnergizE and HONEY), they just get annoying. But aggressive songs are awesome for me, instead of laying on the couch listening to "still alone", crying and blaming myself for everything wrong in my life.
edit: As I'm typing this Tell All is playing and that's an awesome song for when you're feeling down.
Actually there's one Ayu song that's very deep and realistic. The lyrics are about how we will always break up, move on and find a new love. It's a melancholic song. I forgot which one...
Edit 2: This is one of my favorite songs when feeling down:
Let Us Move On - Dido
It's 100% accurate. Also:
Blackbird - Dido
Now I'm thinking that I'm remembering that "one deep and realistic Ayu song" wrong and it's actually just Let Us Move On by Dido, lol.
