I guess there are a bunch of people getting to know Back-On and getting fans of them because of Kuu. If you look at Kenjis Instagram account, there always are comments related to Kuu or from her fans, also supporting Back-On. And judging from Kenjis comments, he doesn't seem to mind.
And btw. he's openly supporting his wife on his account here and there.
Also, Japanese artists tend to make a difference between japanese and western fans (just look at Ayu e.g.).
Back-On and Co. probably know, it's hard for western fans to get hands on a japanese artist.
I respect that some people are against it.
But as long as it is done with respect, I don't think it's bad.
Maybe there is a way at the Expo to do it without bothering too much.
