^I disagree. Hello new me was offensive on so many levels I can't even.

Also of the 'experimental' tracks you listed - BRILLANTE, sexy little things, Bold & Delicious, Snowy Kiss, the most recent one was Snowy Kiss which came out in 2012/3 albums ago. Not a single track on A ONE pushed her musical boundaries at all. Same can be said for Sixxxxxx. I liked where she was going with Feel the love/MGR and Colours but then she immediately reverted to her comfortable self the moment sales were bad, instead of actually COMMITTING to it. In Amuro's case, Style which was arguably her first album which deviated from her earlier sound, sold badly, but it set a solid premise for her going in a more urban direction, which made Queen of Hip Pop a success when it came out.

Ayu's 'inoffensive' 'signature' sound is not 'relevancy', it's just something that her fans tolerate, or her more musically un-exposed fans actually enjoy, which is not reflective of the general public.
