Well, without a studio version we won't know for sure, but I guess that's because she doesn't even want to lipsync.
She's using backtracking, caue probably the chorus is meant to sound like that. Just like in TOUCH DOWN. That's the impression I get.

The song has so much potential, but Zeke is right, there is something missing. I like it, but it could be such an mindblowing song with a better built up.
But who knows. It feels a bit short with about 2:30 min. A full studio version might sound a bit different.
