Yeah I agree with you two. Sarah Connor is who comes closest to a pop queen. I would never say Helene Fischer is a pop queen. What people easily forget when it comes to Schlager and its high sales in general is that the audience of Schlager and pop music is VERY different. Young people don't have the money to buy that much CDs and mostly stream or download (illegal). Whereas people who listen to Schlager are mostly 50+ and those are the people who don't download or stream at all but actually buy music. That's why I don't think sales mean anything when you compare Helene Fischer to Sarah Connor. Not to mention that Sarah debuted 15 years back and managed to establish herself from a teen star to a respected artist who's responsible for her own releases.
And yes, we have far more bigger rock bands and DJs.
Btw, I haven't listened to Sarah's new german album yet. Is it worth a listen?
