I have read that they feel some degree of regret for choosing that name.
When they first started the brand they thought it was somewhat edgy and if I remember correctly it was just called Acne originally. But they added studios to the name to help make it sound better.
It's a popular brand for mens fashion here in the US. I don't see to many females wearing them or talking about them though. I personally love their jeans.
I think it is interesting that Ayu is kind of getting into streetwear brands like Acne Studios, Off White, Adidas, Y-3 etc.
