I think it would take a lot for Ayu to take a really long hiatus. The one point that people never really focus on when they mention that idea is that it means her troupe would probably all have to find other jobs, and then she'd be starting from scratch when she returns. Some people might not think that is a super big deal, but many of her fans (especially Japanese ones) also have a strong tie to her dancers, background singers, etc. If she's not constantly touring and keeping them employed, then she'll lose them. Can you really imagine a concert without Yocchan or Zin or Princess? Sure, people come and go naturally, but imagine losing all of her troupe at once and starting fresh?
