It didn't click for me either. Neither did Forevermore. I liked the style, and I think I liked them on first listen, but they just haven't stuck. In fact, a lot of Fantome is absent from my mind, except Sakura and Tooriame and Hanataba. OK OK and Two Hour Vacation and Ningyo.

HOWEVER. I am loving the cover art and promo. And I keep in mind that I wasn't a big fan of songs like Be My Last either. So, Utada usually nails it for me with the albums, but misses occasionally on the singles. And it's only inevitable that she would eventually release an album that misses a bit for me too.

I hope her next record will be more eclectic and full bodied now that she's warmed up to being back in the industry. I want to hear more variety like she did on DR, UB and HS. Fantome was a little flat and too minimal with the production for me. So, here's hoping she gives us something more fleshed out and breathing.

Also, ballads... please more ballads like Sakura. Please! Another Dareka... Another FINAL DISTANCE? Something that really blows my mind like she has with these songs. Utada is too good at these kinds of slow, reflective, musically emotional ballads.
