Its just if you're going completely deaf...wouldn't it have happened by now? It's just bizarre to me that she announced her condition was so serious, but why would you continue to put yourself in a situation that causes hearing damage. If you have vertigo, you can't even hardly stand up because everything starts spinning, standing on stage for 2 hours is out of the question.
I think
1) it was a publicity stunt to milk sympathy from the public, people love/admire a tragic hero.
2) To give an excuse to pull the plug at any point. She could post on TA tomorrow "I've gone completely deaf and have decided to retire. Thanks and goodbye."
