Ayu seems really close to her troupe. So close that they organised a book of nude art of themselves for her back in the day Their relationship seems very bubbled from what we would consider normal, probably because they spend so much time together both professionally and personally. Flirting, having fun, and being comfortable in various intimate scenarios seem normalised.

So, with that said, it's hard to know what is normal for Ayu and what is more romantic I have no idea about the dynamics going on between her employees and herself, or if she really sees them as employees anymore (and that's another subject). So I find it hard to put a ton of stock into rumours before she confirms them herself.

I think it was a bad move to hold hands with Pei in public, because of her fame. That sounds unfair to her but it's the truth. Whatever their relationship, they will now be under a lot of scrutiny, and she hasn't decided to take control of the narrative yet through a blog post or news statement. It is what it is.
