Don't blame the *technology* when its *users* misuse it. And people have historically *always* found ways to use technology in ways it was never intended. And the technology exists now. If you try out outlaw it, it's still going to be in the outlaws' hands.
What's creepy(ier) is when people do it for regular, "ordinary" people. I think most celebrities of superstar status have concluded it's something that comes with the territory (no matter how bad one may think that can be). But everyday folks?
People may not agree with this, but IMO, when your private photos leak out, now you have some plausible deniability that didn't exist before. "That's not me, that's AI-generated".
And as you alluded to, it was happening long before the recent explosion of AI apps.
I'm not condoning it or trying to justify any of it. Just sharing my own opinion.
