hehe ok ok... the programs i usually use are the following:
Cubase SX 2.0
Reason 2.5
Sound Forge 7.0
I usually use Cubase and Reason together through 'rewire' (it's some sort of digital software cable between those 2 programs).
Cubase I usually use with VST instruments (VSTi). There are a lot of VSTi around and a lot of them have the exact same sounds as the original synths and stuff, you can basically see them as soft-synths.
In Reason you can make use of some synths, a mixer, samplers, effects, drummachine and so on. It has lots of samples included but you can always look for the sample packs called 'refills'. A plus of this program is in my opinion that it is easy to use (for me at least, can be hard when you never used it) and that you can make your own sounds very easily. It's like having a hardware setup in your computer.
Sound Forge I mainly use to make the final master of a track, time stretch samples (goes really great in there) and make extra effects which I'm not able to do (or is too hard to do) in either one of the other programs.
Ok, I also have some hardware over here which can be used with either Reason or Cubase through MIDI, but I don't suppose you want to buy expensive stuff just for a contest
