i think there is some intelligent discussion in this thread. i like it.
yes, i think she has 'fallen' in japan. i wont even try to defend that. i think she has fallen after switching styles to a more mature style, which probably does not appeal to japanese, but it definitely gives her more international appeal.
imagine 'poker face' or 'carols'...which one would you think can be an international hit?
it is 'carols' without doubt. 'poker face' is simply...too japanese mainstream pop for the international market.
as far as the sales go, after the daybreak bomb, she has declined. and she needs to have like 10 covers for each cd to keep sales up. se may have sold 1 million copies of H, but in actual fact only as little as 200k fans could have bought it...that's just a game on numbers. you can cheat the general public to think 1m people bought H, but we know it is not true.
