I don't think people are so blind yamogi. If it's good people will like it, if it's stale then people will notice it. You could say bands like DCT and SAS are way past their prime but people still respect them and their singles still sell well. WHY? Because the quality is still good.
It's more likely that Ayu's sales/popularity are going down b/c the music quality is going down as oppose to the other reason which is b/c she is past her popularity peak.
