Singer Hamasaki Ayumi (26) will be singing the theme song of the film "Shinobi" (dir: Shimoyama Ten). Managing the lyrics herself, she plans to have a magnificent ballad prepared to color the fated ninja-love painted by co-stars Nakama Yukie (25) and Odagiri Joe (29). As this is the first time Hamasaki has written a new theme song for a film, the song is drawing a lot of attention to be released this fall along with the film.
The songstress, whose single released last month "STEP you/is this LOVE?" continues to march up the charts, will be singing of star-crossed love for the big screen.
"Shinobi..." is a work which paints the tragic love of Ninja Iga (Nakama) and Ninja Kaga (Odagiri), who bear the fate of having to kill eachother despite falling in a destined love. The distributor, Matsutake, realized the lovecall, "We definitely wanted Miss Hamasaki, who expresses love in her own words, to sing the theme song."
Before now, Hamasaki has been behind the theme song for "Semi-double" (Fuji TV) as well as 5 other dramas; and although the album-track "Who..." was used as the theme song for the film "Tsuki" (2000), this is the first time she has written a new song just for a film's theme. Reading the work's scenario, she will write the lyrics herself.
She is currently selecting the composition, but according to those related, it is set to be a grand ballad. Matsutake expects that "because it's a work like that of a "modern Romeo & Juliet," a "Japanese Titanic," it will be a lovesong lasting through future generations like Celine Dion, who was responsible for the theme from Titanic." Hamasaki is also enthusiastic that she will, "do [her] best so that [she] can sing a theme that will last in everyone's heart, like the image of the film."
The single is set for sale this fall, along with the film's 17 September release. Like her previous fall-release hit ballads, "Dearest," "No way to say," etc., it seems, as she has gotten caught in the year-end award race, like it will be Hamasaki's greatest work.

I'm excited!! I just hope by "grand ballad" they don't mean like "CAROLS". I hope it's a dramatic ballad like when BoA did "Uri" for Taegukgi. That song gives me chills!
