actually, i think Delirium-Zer0 is right on this one. for example, BoA's "LISTEN TO MY HEART" single says "c/w Snow White & LISTEN TO MY HEART (English ver.)," and neither of the "coupling with" songs have PVs (Snow White wasn't even featured on BoA's debut album). another example is with BoA's "kimochi wa tsutawaru" single which has on the cover "coupling with Next Step." "Next Step" didn't get a PV and again, never made it on any album.
however, if you look on utada hikaru's "COLORS" single, it has "Simple & Clean" as a B-side, which didn't have a PV, but was definitely given more attention than "COLORS" because of its use in the promotion for "Kingdom Hearts."
so in the end, b-sides and c/w's have no importance over one another. they're the same. equality for all (songs)!
btw, isn't B-side used in j-pop? i mean, Do As Infinity has an album entitled "Do the B-Side"
