I just want to throw in my 2 cents here. Of course not all American lyrics are devoid of meaning. But I believe the poster was referring to popular music, as in what you would see when you turn on MTV and very rarely, if ever now a days is there any song on MTV that is lyrically worth a damn. To help prove that I just flipped on MTV to see what kind of song was playing and of course in classic MTV style there wasn't even any music on. It was guys punching each other in the face for fun.
