The feeling of embarassment isn't necessarily related to low self steem, the person could just have a guilty pleasure (they think the song is stupid but they like it but would feel uneasy playing it for other people). There are things you like that you share with intimal friends but wouldn't do so with strangers. It has nothing to do with low self steem, just personality.

Oh well. I guess everybody has different views.
I think, if you're confortable with yourself, you would be confortable to do what makes you feel like too. If you are confident, you wouldn't have the need to feel embarrased or scared for a simple song. It's just a song. I remember when everybody hated Britney Spears to death. My teacher once asked who liked Britney. I wasn't afraid to raise my hand even though I was the only one. Yes, all of my friends hated her a lot as well. But I was still able to listen to it and not feel ashamed. Because I couldn't care less about what other people think of me.
