Yea, my friends don't really care. It's not like they listen to mainstream Western music anyway, so they're fine with me listening to Asian music.
But when I tell other people that I mainly listen to Japanese music, they usually go "Oh, so you're Japanese." and I say "No, I'm Cantonese", then the conversation usually goes "Then why do you listen to
Japanese music?". Or, the conversation could go like "Oh, so you're Japanese." "No, I'm Cantonese", then they'll go "Well, aren't they the same thing?" No comment necessary
I try to get some people into Asian music, but I can tell that they don't really want to listen to it unless it's in English
