Ooh...before I thought that 濱崎歩 was used only because the 浜 from 浜崎 doesn't exist in Chinese, thus they used a homonym, which is 濱 and it means the same thing...and that they had to translate あゆみ into 歩 since it literally means step (other wise they can't translate あゆみ because it's Japanese characters). Thanks for clearing this up, I was so confused before.

Seems not. That lil' kanji seems to have a lot of readings depending on the use. Plus, if there's that "kanji-only names" law, they wouldn't let her.
