Every company will require copyright of your material. Otherwise, they can't use it in any way (including making your album). If the record company doesn't, the publisher will. A lot of record companies these days have their own publishing companies, anyway, so many times it's the same thing.
While you can't really avoid surrenduring some copyright, what you can do is negotiate reversion clauses and such, which can give copyright back to you after a certain amount of time.
