I don't think it affects my view on the album cover at all. It's more like glare from the lights behind. When a very high powered light is shone upon the back of Ayu, parts of her hair that allow the high powered light to go through will inevitably create this white looking spot "as captured by the camera".
I think they shot Ayu on a black background and had a high powered light behind her to make her seem as though she exuberated some kind of glow. It doesn't make sense to shoot Ayu on a white background and afterwards do photoshop. It's a waste of time. Moreover on the CD only cover, it was obvious that the background was black.
