American Idols have small dogs too!

I saw in the paper today an article saying that the new hip accessory for celebrities is, get this, a puppy. because apparently britney spears took her chihuahua (however u spell it) shopping with her boyfriend. OMG i was like as if she is setting a trend, AYU DID THAT LIKE 6 YEARS AGO! Remember A Song for XX album booklet. and she's always had her dogs, its like a total part of her image and stuff. well, i was kinda pissed off, coz its not the first time i've seen american celebrities copy japanese ones and say its their own idea. well, they probably dont copy, maybe a coincidence, but still, no one gives credit to ayu and stuff who thought of it first.

I don't think that any similarity between Ayu and someone else means that either one is copying - just because Britney Spears owns a puppy dog, it doesn't mean that she has one because Ayu has one. Furthermore, the whole puppy dog thing has always been very much alive in Japan. I remember seeing a documentary on it. For many Japanese women their puppy dogs are like children. It's not a trend that Ayu set.

I have a dog, am I popular now? XD

Yeah I saw a pic of Paris Hilton, shopping, with her dog in her arms. Poor doggie, is being dragged to the malls and stuff.

Yeah it does seem mean, now that it's fashionable some people will be using animals as nothing more than accessories.

Not that this applies to Ayu, if anything she probably loves her dogs a little too much

OOOOOOOOOOo...k? A lot of celebrities love their dogs and tote it around. It's not like they're thinking of some 'unknown' jpop star and copying her... I'm sure its just a trend.

It seems that not only stars are doing that, ordinary people are trying to emulate them and get little toy dogs of their own... and dress them up too. One afternoon chat show here had a little 'fashion show' for dogs, with awful-looking wraps and even a jumper. And all the presenters thought it was cute, but it wasn't.

not at all...if you're talking about BIG technology like military and space exploration Japan is really behind. Who really gives about new wacky cell phone accessories anyway.

I think you take this way too seriously.

Britney has a dog, it's her choices to take him shopping with her. It's not like she knows it's 'popular' to have a dog and it's not like she knew Ayu and knew that it was 'popular'.

Seriously, it's not even a trend.

How dare those people say this like dogs are only objets and accessories?

Well, i have to disagree with this.
When it comes to fashion, Japan is one of the most influencial place.
Ayu did come with fishnets for about 3-4 years ago and other things too.

i agree with that but only if its relevent to sum1 into that kinda of carreer... the majority of average ppl would prefer the wacky cell phones.. in that case... japan is like 10yrs ahead with that kind of stuff....

well, since this thread is about style, that's what i'm talking about. famous people in america have always showcased their dogs (or other pets). so, in the style/culture aspect, america has way more influence. the japanese look up to us (and other Western nations), so to speak, in that respect. if this weren't true, american/british music wouldn't be more popular than most japanese music over there (this is, btw, coming from a japanese person herself, who lives there, and has told me this is true). i wouldn't say japanese culture influence america itself just because a lot of people don't KNOW it's japanese culture. do you know what i mean? that's just american ignorance right there. but on the whole, i would say its america -> japan and not the other way around. i mean, in the entire world who is more well-known: britney or ayu?
