Your Most Favorite Japanese Album of Utada Hikaru

What is your most favorite Japanese album of hikki to date and why?

Mine is Deep River (and Distance a bit after it), because this album is very meaningful, it's really solid with awesome single and only album songs, I love all of the songs in there a lot, ad the cover is quite smashing (hikki's best cover) and I loved the whole concept and pop with etheral and r&b bits.
As a whole this is a great album!

So what is yours?

ULTRA BLUE easily. It is one of her most personal CDs, IMO (along with HEART STATION), and another strong point is the lyrics. She was so on-point with her lyric writing for this album. The melodies are some of my favorite as well. "This Is Love" is an awesome opener, and I also love the emotions in "BLUE". "Making Love" has some of her best melodies EVER, "One Night Magic" is fun, interesting, and actually has Hikki doing a DUET! "Wings" is gorgeous, and the singles are of course phenomenal, especially "Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro."

HEART STATION and Distance are probably tied for second, because both of those albums feel like they have no fillers whatsoever. Every track is great. They're both very consistent and don't have any major weak points (yes, I even like Boku wa Kuma ). DEEP RIVER probably has her best singles, but the album tracks are a big snooze-fest for me. First Love is just not my style, either. So yeah

Deep River! Even though it doesn't have Colors, I somehow really like this album. Ultra Blue comes second after that though.

Deep River, definitely. Though Distance comes in at a close second, and Ultra Blue is probably third. But yeah, I always find myself listening to Deep River more that I do her other albums.

I chose Distance because it had not only good singles, but great album tracks as well. My second favorite would probably have to be ULTRA BLUE, then Deep River. First Love and HEART STATION are both pretty bleh to me.

HEART STATION totally changed the way I viewed Utada, and I mean that in the best way possible. Distance comes in second, since it was the first Utada album I ever listened to, tied with DEEP RIVER, which had strong tracks overall. I never really got into FIRST LOVE, but maybe that'll change with another listen.

1. HEART STATION
- My first real thorough experience with an Utada Album from the beginning to the end.
- Not one bad song. Not one is a filler.
- Some of her best Singles.

2. Ultra Blue
- "Blue" me away and has some of her best Singles.
- Some songs either never got 100% with me or took a while/really long time to really snag/hook me.

3. Deep River
- First Utada Album
- Upon first listen, I had never heard 1 Song/Single from the Album so the entire Album Experience was Brand New.

(Obviously I voted for HEART STATION)
(As shown by my list, Utada just keeps getting better and better with every Album Release)

I'm glad HEART STATION is leading the poll. I thought the general response toward the album was negative, but I guess not.
