Quick Question about CDJapan

Hi. I just got a debit card/bank account not too long ago and made my first purchase:

2 copies of the new Perfume single and a Dream single from CDJapan. I just noticed that CDJapan STILL has not charged me for the order and I'm wondering if this is normal? It's been 2 weeks since the order shipped. I don't want to be stealing from them or something and get in trouble. Thanks.

Oh that's weird because I have debit card too and they charge my card immediately once they confirm my order I think you better to contact the bank first if they did charge your card rather than contacting cdjapan , I hope that helps a bit

^Well after that, I ordered stuff from other sites, and the charges all show up =/ It's just the CDJapan order that doesn't.

I'm sure there's no problem with your card , but now I guess that your transaction with CDJ in hold it happened to me once with HMV HK and they charged me 2 weeks after I received my CDs.

Oh, that happens to me also. They do end up charging you a week or so later. I have no idea why they take their time with it though. =/ They typically charge you when they ship your order and you'll get a small international transaction fee as well.

If you pre-order something on other sites(mostly all shopping sites) they won't charge you until it's shipped. However if you check your account when you pre -order something it will appear as if they charged you. If you order something that's already out they'll charge you on the spot or until they tell you they shipped it. Which doesn't take long.

but the bank actually freeze the amount on your account already right?
i pre-ordered a single last week using my debit card.when i view my bank statement,the amount is actually 'authorized' but haven't actually 'paid' to cdj.so,the final amount will only reflected on my bank statement after they send out?or the 'authorized' payment is actually the amount cdj will get?

No the amount doesnt show on my bank statement actually =/ I will log on and check again later.

Bryan , usually after your orders from CDJapan been shipped out , then you will be billed by them

it's not the same for PayPal where you have to pay 1st though

it's something that you don't need to worry about

^^^The authorized payment is probably a placeholder making sure on the company's final price? I'm not entirely sure on that matter. I just pre-ordered something myself and sure enough it showed up on my account as authorized. It'll disappear once it goes through though. It always does.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. I've been waiting on something for almost 2 weeks now after them notifying me about it being shipped and they still haven't charged me for it. They'll come and collect, you can count on that. lol.

I pay for all my HMV Japan purchases using my debit card & they always bill me after my items are mailed out

but they really like to take their own time in billing me unlike for 5music's case xD

Too late to comment on this particular matter lol but in case anyone else is confused about this, once you place an order with CDJ the amount is "authorized" by your bank and you'll temporarily see it on your banking statement. CDJ usually charges me the Tuesday of the week after they ship out the order for some people it'll take less time or longer.

I think part of the reason they do this is because a.) sometimes the shipping cost change and they must notify you beforehand to approve of the new charge and b.) because people change/cancel their orders all the time and it's less of a hassle to refund them, all they have to do is change the subtotal (which is why when it's authorized, it says 'waiting for final amount from merchant').

Just make sure to keep the amount on your card (or if you're terrible with money like me, put it aside in your savings until you need it xD).
