will jpop lose against kpop in its own country?

lookin the increasin kpop act who start their job in japan n knowin that they take a good start in oricon recently..
do u think that kpop will invade the japan music industry?
as for jpop itself recently only few jpop act that really solid in their sales such as akb48,b'z,mr.childrn n arashi..
n the rest r moderate in term of sales..such as exile..perfume n the sub unit of akb48..
the big names have been goin down hill recently like mika..aichin..kuchan..n other solo artist includin our beloved ayu..
even JE idols is startin to go down..
while around last month till this month kpop acts r hangin on top 10 oricon n sometimes topping the oricon..
some of them r easly breakin 100k in its 1st initial week..
as i can see other kpop acts begin to go to japan n getting moderate sales..
its so ironic watching oricon as the jpop chart dominated by kpop lately..
im not tryin to make this thread as a bashing thread or else..
i just want to know ur opinion with no bashing..
thx a lot 4 the attention

mte.

Of course not =/ .. Kpop is trendy in Japan right now so of course kpop idols do well on the oricon, i think that a lot of them will go back to Korea eventually but only some of them will be recognized as jpop artists like tohoshinki and BoA .. I see KARA getting there already, and snsd too.

Also, just because they're popular right now doesnt mean that Jpop artists like akb and ayu will suddenly stop being popular, so i dont see why the kpop trend is a problem for them

kpop is really popular in japan right now, but i think that after awhile it will fade away and only the real popular ones will stay on top/stay known (dbsk, kara, boa, and soshi is getting there too)

but we will never really know what'll happen~

Well...I think it's always interesting to have something that is not from your country...you could also ask why all of us are in a Ayu forum and not in a forum about Madonna or an Artists from whatever country we are from

I don't think so.
There's a kpop music wave these days, that's true. But I don't really think kpop can barely overshadow jpop.
It's just another trend. Period.

I don't think so. Perhaps it's just the Japanese, being interested in a culture different then theirs. Just like how they have an obsession with anything American/Western.

Aren't most of the K-Pop artists releasing in Japan singing in Japanese anyways? Sure they are from Korea but they are trying to integrate into the J-Pop music scene. And they all sell the average number of what most J-Pop acts do nowadays.

Um, no. It's a flash in the pan craze that will fade and make people look back and wonder why they bothered with it in the first place. Like every fad.

they can sell more~

and Kpop is just a fad right now like how Jpop was. In Taiwan, it was all about JE and now Kpop is dominating the charts
People just like something new to listen to till something newer comes along.

Yeah, it seems unusual - the ones dominating are Johnny's groups, AKB48, and now Korean pop...

I don't understand why people like K-pop in the first place. For the last couple of years, all of the songs have been really cheaply produced and, well, for lack of a better term, absolutely retarded with some of the most basic melodies i've ever heard. J-Pop is a little bit better right now, but honestly J-pop is also ridiculously stale at the moment. The only good artists are Ayumi and Namie... umm, and yeah. Other artists occasionally put out decent songs but not consistently (Koda Kumi, Miwa, Miho Fukuhara). All these K-pop groups, Johnny's groups, and also AKB48 are honestly selling based solely on appearance.

^^ urgh I agree with the last part .. I just find myself cringing at all these groups popping up out of nowhere everyday .. Most of them have terrible songs and concept that are trying to copy what ever is popular at the moment .. Of course there are good groups with awesome songs and talented members from time to time but for each talented and original group, there are like 5 horrible ones =\
It just irks me to see all these companies putting a bunch of young people together and calling them idols to make quick money.

Different people, different tastes. Simple as that.

Not all Kpop idols, JE idols, and AKB girls are zomgsogorgeous, and not all their fans like them and buy their CDs because they look nice on the covers, js.
The main reason why I like AKB48 right now is because I think their songs are awesome, so sorry I guess I'm doing it wrong

This post is a little controversial but I actually do agree with the point you make. If they were ugly, it'd be obvious that they wouldn't be selling at all. Not only that, the people who produce the music use the most generic beats, like you said.

At the same time, I feel like it's not my place, or anyone else's place, to judge. Music taste is largely opinion, it's not factual. What sounds great to some sounds bad to others. It's simple as that. You can tell someone that he/she has horrible music taste for liking a certain artist, but that doesn't mean you're right. Plus for K-pop/Johnny/AKB artists, they actually do put a lot of effort into their career, even if they are only treating themselves like products. They still sell because they put that effort in to promote themselves.

The only thing that can be measured is how much time and effort is put into composing songs and lyrics. Shiina Ringo, for example, put a LOT of effort into her solo music, carefully crafting together pieces and pieces so the song has many creative elements and easter eggs to it. AKB, Johnny, and K-pop songs may be good to the ears, but besides that, what are they good for?

(Sorry I played a lot of devil's advocate...xD)

Kpop won't beat Jpop in its own industry. Also I'm not sure why people feel this is some recent trend, theres always been Kpop and Kpop artists in the Jpop industry, like when Se7en and Boa was more popular in Japan than Korea. Kpop artists/groups don't hesitate to jump on the opportunity because theres a lot more money in the Jpop industry. Back in the early 2000s when good Jpop albums would hit platinum, did you know that if a kpop album sold 100k or 200k, it was considered a top seller for the year? Unless you're one of the rare ones to strike worldwide fame like Jang Dong Gun or Rain, theres not a lot of money in the entertainment industry in Korea. An actor on a hit TV show or an artist with a top selling album is not much wealthier than a middle class citizen.

It was a LOT better in the 90s. If you're passing judgment solely on the past few years, I'll agree its been pretty bad. A Hyori album is better than half the stuff thats considered Kpop these days.

Sure, if you want to hear her sing a bunch of covers that didn't credit the original artists

^ Well, sadly not everyone you generalize has great looks or 'sell' themselves on looks only. They could sing both KPop idols, AKB, JE, H!P or etc.

You're generalizing man, and that's awful. People have different preferences, so it's nothing to be confused about of Kpop being like :/ It's just the same when non Ayu fans ask why we like Ayu.
