Exclamation New Artist Discoveries!

Did you recently discover a new music artist you really liked?

I found out about a little ambient group form Iceland called Mum...their music is really good, you can get the CD in america too. I also really like the emo band American Football. Try Mum's single 'Green grass of tunnel" if you like ambient electronical music!

So what music artist do you really like now!!?? And what songs?!

The Eels. I don't really know how to describe them. They are rock, but they're also jazz and a lot of other stuff. They are awesome.

Maroon 5. I heard their first 2 singles on MTV while waiting for The Gauntlet to come on and really liked them. After hearing song samples from Amazon I was determined to buy their album Songs About Jane. So I went to Best Buy on Monday and bought the CD, rushed home to put it into my CD player, and never wanted to turn my CD player off. Their music is an amazing mix of R&B, Rock, and a ton of other genres that make it so unique and pleasing to the ear.

I also discovered Enka artist Sayuri Ishikawa over the weekend after seeing her name mentioned on a website. She has an excellent singing voice and I look forward to buying more of her material in the near future. ^_^

There's a really great band called Dakona, they're from Vancouver where I live They recently got signed to Maverick records, so they may be getting big... they're rock, kind of Our Lady Peace meets Matchbox Twenty-ish. I love them. Check out Millionaire or Revelation. I hear they used to be a Christian band, it kind of comes out in their lyrics... but they're really really great. Good driving music Highly recommended!

that MUM band sounds interesting. Me loves ambient, so I'll give it a try.

Other stuff that I recently discovered or rediscovered: Ryiuchi Sakamoto, the Japanese pop master; Junior Varsity KM, ambient/techno weird stuff, but awesome!; Nasum, grindcore from Sweden.

Their live performances have been consistently good for the most part, especially at their free concerts and when opening for Matchbox Twenty. Surely one "off" performance can't be a bad thing.

I also discovered Fefe Dobson a few weeks ago and really liked her song "Take Me Away" along with the video for "Everything." I noticed that Best Buy had her album on sale for $8 so I sampled tracks from it in order to decide whether to buy her album or Maroon 5's. Sadly, it was one of those cases where an album has about 1 or 2 outstanding songs and the other 10 tracks as filler. (Don't you hate it when that happens?)

There was also a song by an unknown artist that I heard this week at a bowling alley and was pretty good, but I have no idea who it was.
