I don't know why I went to the web page of Takuma Noriage, the Art Director of FIVE and I found some rare images, such as photobook pages and alternate covers, they're not very good quality, but it's nice to see this original files instead of the scans! Enjoy!

The most shoking is the original image used for the 2009 calendar cover, with an UNRETOUCHED Ayu, the comparative is crazy xDD

oh, the before and after of the calendar is really interesting! thanks for making the gif!

its nice to see though that while they did retouch a little, its not like the drastically had to photoshop Ayu!

but omg, that gif just added to my bad day....i don't mind them retouching the shadows and small details that distract the viewer, but the figure slimming down and the shape of the chin, is too much for me... is that man crazy? She has a great figure why the ..... to slim it down! And the chin...you must be kidding me.... She looks perfectly nice in that unretouched one...seriously >_<

but i think the opposite, that the retouches aren't THAT bad. i thought it kinda shows that Ayu doesn't need as many retouches as some celebs. these are fairly minor.

Though, i didn't notice the chin until after you pointed it out.

At the risk of ruining my image of Ayu, I've always wanted to see images like these. its interesting.

I don't mind the fix on her clothes and little touch up, but changing her waist and chin was... wow. Oh well, at least it wasn't OMG PHOTOSHOP OVERLOAD (Like Namie's Best Fiction... UGH. Girl doesn't need massive overload.)

But anyway, the images are so pretty! I wish they were High Quality images. ;_;

the retouches aren't looking bad, they are looking very ok, but who who, Ayu really doesn't need to have her figure slimmed down, plus it greatly affects the girls that see the photos in magazines. I love seeing before and afters, it's not like i'm scared of them to ruin my image i have in my head about the person, but I was expecting to see even LESS photoshop on Ayu, I mean comparing the before and after, in my eyes they did A MAJOR ones too, that's why i can't wrap my brain around that, the chin just added to the worse..ugh...

The retouch of the chin is very evident in some shots from Kazuyoshi, I think he simply doesn't like girls with strong facial bones and square shaped face, so he makes the chin longer and the jaw thiner... he has made some of the worst photoshop jobs of all time:

I have nothing against retouching, because specially in this beauty shots, failures in the skin and generally anything that does not look perfect can ruin the photo. But when you change the facial structure of someone... well, that's really a bad thing! xD

We can see it in the latest Leslie Kee shots, Ayu is obviously retouched, her skin is blured so we can't see a single pore, but we can see her chin, her eyes and her jaw (though they have tweaked the jowl in the photo where you can't see her eyes).


And knowing how Ayu is with this "don't wanna become adult" and "makeup makes me confident" I wouldn't be surprised if she asked for the pics to be extremely retouched to show the image of herself that she really has.

they always edit their chins/jaws so much, not sure why exactly lol

they did that too with one of alan's best album covers, it was scary
