ayu's real name

I`ve just learnt that ayu's real name is 濱崎歩. The pronouncation is the same with 浜崎あゆみ which is Hamasaki Ayumi as we all know. I don't care much about her Ayumi's kanji, but I'm so suprised to learn that the first kanji of Hama-saki is different! Why did she change it? As I know it was 浜 ever since she started her idol career. Does anybody know about it?

That's the translation of her name into Chinese..
浜 is the Japanese simplification of the Chinese character 濱.

The 歩 character has not been changed from the Chinese original but Ayu uses the hiragana for her given name in Japan, in China/Taiwan/Hong Kong they use the Kanji.

Actually, no, the first & more complex "hama" character IS her real name. The difference between her Chinese name & birth name is ONE missing stroke on the "Ayumi/Bu" character. See if you can spot it

I don't think I've heard of any solo artists using their birth name, as written, for their stage name, and there's a rule (unwritten? not sure) that if you change talent agencies, you change your name or how it's written. (Her Aidoru name has a slightly different "saki" character than her current Avex name - the top right radical is different.)

yes, there's something like a rule... I remember how Suzuki Ami also changed her name.

^^ I knew about her Taiwan/Chinese name. When I was in China, all her cds were listed as 浜崎歩. And they don't even call her Hamasaki Ayumi! Craaazy

Excuse my ignorance, but is it right to call her Bin Xin Bu even in China? Even if someone goes to a different country doesn't their name stay the same regardless?

^^ may be ordinary people have their names unchanged, but ayu's the public person, so they use Chinese pronouncation, so people will easily remember her name... well, I guess so

In countries where Chinese is the main-language, of course they have to call Ayu with the Chinese pronunciation of her name. It also happens to the other artists.
