ayu and you

how has ayumi's "scandals" and her decline of popularity and sales affected the amount of times you listen to her music. I have noticed the more i hear about ayu's ruined image in japan the less amount of time i spend listening to her music than i used to, i guess it makes me sad but now im gonna ignore these articles and news about her image as it getting in between me and her music. so what about you guys have you noticed youre listening to ayu even less than before?

Soooo what "scandals" are we talking about here? Her ex-husband/boyfriends? I love how these things are "scandals" when people here in the US wouldn't even bat an eye. Her personal affairs haven't affected the way I view her or her music. What's bothering me lately is lack of good releases, but that's my opinion.

Well, I do listen to her slightly less often than, let's say, 4 years ago. But that's only because I've got some other music to listen to as well and back then I listened to Ayu only So I still love her and her music just as much as I always did. I don't care about this Japanese tabloid stuff and "scandals". And I also love most of her recent releases.

I've actually been listening to her a lot more lately, I don't know what changed but for a while I wasn't really listening to her, but now it feels kinda like when I first found her music and I could just sit and listen to her songs over and over again.

I've never really followed the celebrity stuff because I don't really care. The only "celebrity" thing that I ever really followed were the TA messages, but those don't seem to get posted anymore.

Those scandals...it really makes me think what has been going on with Ayu. And there's not much new music either...

She's almost 35, but I'm 20 years old, and the fact that I'm listening to younger artists such as Sayuri Sugawara, miwa (both 23), and AKB48 (too popular), as well as Yanawaraba, and some song that was used in an anime movie but first found on a fan-made railway video, as well as my busy lives recently, it seems I haven't been listening to Ayu for quite a while...

(And I don't even follow Ayu on Twitter as of now!!!)

I don't care about her "scandals" lol

It wouldn't even matter if I had no respect for her or thought she was a horrible *****.

If she had music I wanted to listen to, I'd listen to it~ She just kinda doesn't atm. And it's not all because of her.

I just don't feel like listening to her new music for various reasons, and I'm burned out on her old music. It was all I listened to for like 3 years of my life lol

Any scandals or rumors about Ayu don't affect my opinion of her or how often I listen to her music. The "scandals" she's supposedly been involved in are hardly even worth recalling in my book. It's all just tabloid-y crap. Not to mention the fact that I don't live in Japan so I'd have to actively be looking for negative articles about Ayu if I wanted to dig up something.

Absolutely nothing changed for me, I read about her so called "scandals" because I care about her, but her music's appeal still remain untouched, as it has always been.

I still listen to Ayu. I'm not bothered about these 'scandals' because bad things happen to people. I don't really care about declining sales as long as Ayu releases songs that I like. Like taskinillusion says, more concerned about lack of good releases because even though I like the songs, they're average and all sound the same.

the "scandals" (which really are only considered scandals in japan) don't have any impact on my liking of ayu's music.

the reason why o don't listen to her stuff as much anymore is because she hasn't released all that much lately; and what she has released is quite mediocre to me, unfortunately. #AyuNeedsABreak

"Scandals" & the decline of her sales don't affect my love for Ayu's music. The first one has nothing to do with her music. I don't care of sales at all. Now that I know the japanese music world, I know that to be number one at Oricon isn't a token of quality at all.
What's really important, is what you feel when you're listening to a music. Nothing else!

The so called scandals haven't affected how much I listen to her, but the mini-album mess has.
Normally when an artist I follow puts out a single, I listen to it once and then ignore it till the next album comes out so I don't get bored of it. Call me naive, but when "LOVE" came out, I expected her to release 4 minis and a compilation album for the 5 releases, so I listened to that and "again" constantly, thinking that I'd skip the compilation if that's what she released at the end. But then "LOVE again" came out, and as much as I loved the minis there wasn't enough decent new material for me to enjoy, so I kinda lost interest in her. I still come back to her every so often, but right now Namie and Kuu are giving me just what I want instead

I had troubles with the amount of listening before those scandals even happened to be honest. My obsession went asleep right after LOVE came out, but I had lot of trouble before that too. Right now my obsession is asleep although I follow her news and every time I listen music on shuffle, I let her songs play but right now I don't think I could listen only her. I had similar problem back in 2008 when she had her 10th Anniversary. I guess I'm just not interested and it has nothing to do with her so called scandals. :p

I also think that breaks are always good. And even if I take a break from Ayu's music, I still love her quite a lot.

Although I pretty much despised the Mannie & Maro stories and everything relating to it, I do solely feel a bit disconnected from Ayu mainly due to the lack of musical releases and TV appearances.

Not to mention the change in her voice. I fell in love with her brighter voice (pre-MY STORY era), which by no means compares to her recent vocals. Actually, this happened during GUILTY era, at least for me. Funny enough, I look at this album as one of my permanent favourites.

For me, her music hasn't been appealing to me since RnRC. And its just gotten worse, imo, over the years. I wouldn't care about her "scandals" if her music was amazing, but since I don't consider myself such a big fan anymore, her scandals are what keeps me entertained with her I'm a bit more critical of her and her scandals for the same reason.

Her music always speaks to me whenever I need a song. Her scandals, I really don't bother that much...But it bothers me how it affects how others see her to some extent. Just a bit.
