Ayu's health condition during GUILTY era

I just recently went through a bunch of older Ayu performances on my HDDs when I was suddenly reminded on something I've been speculating about since several years.

I'm talking in particular about Ayu's health condition during 2007 when she's been promoting "talkin' 2 myself" on several TV formats.

During that period of time, she barely looked like herself. Her face looked as if she were prescribed a strong medicine like cortisone (that's what I was suggesting back then) and I kept wondering even more when I noticed how uncomfortable/insecure she must have felt due to her body language while talking with the moderators.

At a-nation '08, everyone could see that she even gained a little chubby tummy, which was rather cute, but once again, I got a feeling she had been going through certain physical issues, not to mention her deafness announcement.

If I am not mistaken there was never really a AHS discussion on that topic besides Ayu being deaf on one ear and the gain in weight, which somewhat surprised me.

To me it feels as though there have been crucial things going on in Ayus life of which the crowds (including myself) were not aware. A sort of secret that remains unspoken/unrevealed until today and it bugs me as I really don't predict anyone to come up with a logical explanation. Nonetheless. Here's my question:

Did you ever feel like Ayu had severe health problems during "talkin' 2 myself" or did you at least sensed something into a similar direction and what would be your assumptions?

Her long therm relationship was about to end, she was completing 10 years on the business (what is no reason to celebrate, actually), she was going through her first tour overseas, her hearing was getting worst and we don't know when her friend died.

Her tired appearence and gain of weight could easily be all emotional.

And even if wasn't, it's none of our business.

Those were dark times.

I think she just had a severe case of the blues. GUILTY and Mirrorcle World were part of the healing process.

still, I don't know that Ayu is like some people who eat everything if she has an emotional issue. That might explain the chubby thingy. Then again, I might been wrong.

Yeah. I'm really sure that Ayu was going through a lot during those times. Her Countdown Live 2007-2008 spoke it all. My heart just broke apart when the news about her, completely losing her hearing on her left ear back then. Even so, she continued and fought. I loved her even more!

She lost hearing completely in one ear, her best friend died, and her boyfriend of over seven years parted ways with her.

One can only assume the world crumbled on Ayu at that moment. So to be honest, she was coping and nothing wrong with that. GUILTY and Mirrorcle World provided space for her to heal, nonetheless. GUILT was such a painful and raw album.

agree with others here, she must had gone through a lot during that year, broke up with her long-time bf, lost one of her hearings, lost a friend, she's one of the tough women. i doubt she ever had any serious illness. but who knows.

and i really love GUILTY album, because she has finally really opened herself up through her lyrics.

It was a rough year for her in general. Yeah, the weight gain might be emotional, but that puffy face? That looks like a reaction to something.

My bet would be that she developed arthritic symptoms and was taking cortisol or prednisone, both of which can do that (AND cause weight gain). My bet is also that she stopped using them not long after, because those are TERRIBLE side effects, especially for someone in the public eye.

I remember this time because this was when I first started buying her music. I had become a fan of hers back in '05 to '06 ish...But, GUILTY was the first album of hers for me to buy.

I definitely think it seemed like that time was just very dark and filled with unhappy feelings. Kind of like 2013 for me. O.o
