Question Exactly how well did the Single M do?

See I didn't become a big fan of Ayu til last year, although I knew about her etc I listened to her I wasn't a big fan...I was there when the 'M' single arrived...

How well did it do? What were the fans reactions?

In my opinion it's my favorite song of hers...I just love it...

She's hot too...especially when she has her hair in the bang wave whatever with long hair!

Back on the question, how well did it do?

remember to add about 20% if you wanna know the global sales cos the sales-stats are for japanese version only... anyway M was the very first single ayu composed herself!

I thought M sold 1.3 million?? And SEASONS sold 1.5 million and A sold 1.6. I'm not sure if they are the exact numbers but that's the order of the top three: A, then SEASONS, then M.

there are conflicting info about how well M sold.

some sources say it sold 1.5 M while some say it sold 1.3 M.

1,319,070 for 18 weeks, according to Hamasaki Republic's Info-bank. That seems about right. 4.5 months, usually sales kind of.... drop after that. A sold 1,630,540 after 18 weeks also, according to them once again.

Link to their old data base. http://www.hamasaki-republic.org/sales.shtml

Depend on you did have a PV, didn't it? The one with lots of blue, and she was standing in the middle of nowhere with a long white coat...I think... @_@

EDIT: Yes, it did! Caps (from the CM, since I don't have the full PV on the computer):

Back on topic, yes, I do believe M fell third after A and Seasons...however, I don't know weekly sales or anything, sorry! That's really specific ne~

There is a Depend on you PV. Yea, 100% sure about that.

Anyhow, I don't really understand why M is such a great song, but I guess it did pretty good.

Yeah, believe me, there is. As I said, I don't have the full version on my computer at the moment...but I've seen it before.

EDIT: Also, I am... and UNITE! only had commercial clips.

M is a great song because of...the goodness of it! And what the video means...and the thing...what's it called? the instruments used! ^_^

Yeah I just remembered there is a Depend on You one, I don't like it very much...I thought it was Daybreak at first because it looked blue...lol

Wow...now I don't feel so impressed by Ayu's recent singles sales anymore. I wish she could still sell as much as she used to..

The times have changed. Even today there aren't many artists in Japan that are even capable of producing those numbers.

Yes, as Piccolo said, sales just aren't what they used to be. 1,000,000 used to be the big cornerstone for what was considered a really good job for a single...now, it's generally 300,000.
