Hamasaki slays 'em at Emporium.

The fashion hall at Bangkok's Emporium Shopping Complex was a madhouse yesterday as Japanese teenagers and housewives jostled with local teens to catch a glimpse of Japan's No-1 pop star, Ayumi Hamasaki.

The blonde, petite 23-year-old idol was in town to present a donation of more than Bt1 million to Princess Ubolratana's anti-drugs project, "To Be Number One Club".

Hamasaki said she was excited about visiting Thailand for the first time. "I'm very happy and honoured to be chosen as the Ruby Ambassador. I want to help promote gemstones to bring as much money to the Princess's charity project, so that Thailand will be drug-free."
