2006 grammys

Wow what a show it was. It all began with Gorillaz and Madonna. Let me just say that I think whole Gorillaz idea thing is weird. Singing CGI? Um.. no. Then Madonna bursts out with “hung up”. I’m not really a fan of hers but she did her thing. She looked great… still can’t dance to save her life but still she looked great.

One of the funnier moments of the night: Stevie Wonder & Alicia Keys. They were presenting the first award for best female pop vocal. Stevie gave Alicia his harmonica to hold and she blew on it… he was like “don’t be getting no spit up in my harmonica girl!” I was on the floor! Alicia looked stunned but laughed it off.

Other high lights for me:
-Keith Urban’s performance really surprised me. I don’t like country music but I really liked his performance.
-Christina Aguilera was also amazing.
-I also enjoyed Mary J. Blige with U2. I can’t stand U2 but this was an exception.

Total disasters:
-Mariah Carey’s performance was a train wreck! I like Mariah but she STRUGGLED to get through her set. Her voice was cracking and all over the place. She still managed to wear something ultra low cut to show off her breasts (as always). Is it just me or is Mariah starting to look like the lion from the wizard of oz?
-Sly Stone Tribute. What a load of crap that was. Joss Stone, Fantasia, and Devin Lima were great but the others sucked. Ciara needs to stop trying to sing. Just dance girl dance! Steven Tyler came out and screamed some gibberish and then the moment… SLY STONE came out with a blond mohawk! It looked so weird! (The guy is like a hundred) Then he gets on the key board and says a couple of “yeahs” then walks off the stage!!! HE LEFT AT HIS OWN TRIBUTE!
-Coldplay’s performance sucked big time. Chris Martin looked like he didn’t shower for a week. EWWW! He was just running up and down the stage and isles singing out of breath.
-Bruce Springsteen came out and depressed everyone with “devils & dust.”
-Kanye West & Jamie Foxx’s performance didn’t work. Am I the only one that thinks Jamie Foxx can’t sing?

Surprises:
-Kelly Clarkson winning 2 awards! She was floored. It was a nice moment for her.
-Mariah DID NOT win record of the year or album of the year. I was very surprised ‘cause “MIMI” was groundbreaking for her.

That’s my view on the show. It was entertaining and definitely better that last years.

I thought the gorillaz performance was kinda cool, I still was watch madonna as she went in front and in back of them.... I dunno how they did that V_V; I watched coldplay and thought that the lead singer guy was... pretty bad...... V_V; I did see kelly win both her awards which I thought she really deserved and she really showed it. Her performance was also great. I really didn't watch any more of the show though... At first it seemed worth watching but quickly I was able to just focus on my sodoku instead V_V;;;

I didn't watch it. But the results made me so annoyed I'm never watching it ever. We Belong Together can't lose to U2. L.A.M.B can't lose to U2. Its not logical. I hated the results.

You know... In the past I really believed in Grammy or even Oscar, but now.... its all a marketing issue. Maybe I´m wrong because I live in Latin America so I really don´t know what´s going on in your radios, MTV, TV and stuff, but the big music industry names are not the ones I saw at Grammys, i mean, c´mon, there´s a lot of people there that make us laught (not saying any name).

Ok, i was the most happy man on earth seeing my two DIVAS taking the award;
Shakira - best rock album (latin)
Laura Pausini - best pop album (latin)

and still sad cause i wanted shakira competing with her Oral Fixation 2 and madonna with her Confession on a dance flor. ok ok.

By the way, now i really like Gwen Stefani, she is even prettier now.... with the belly ^^

ow.... o.O just to mention ..... what the h*ll happened to Mariah Carey? She is kind of weird.... I saw her perfomance on TV last morning.... She was kind of drugged wasn´t she? lol

Grammy's are such a boring drag. Thanks for summarizing it for us so it would only take up a few minutes to read.

Here you go:

I would have LOVED a complete "Hung Up"/"Feel Good Inc." performance instead of only a 20-second mix.

Madonna and The Gorillaz were holograms. The hologram video was shown to the audience, then Madonna performed "Hung Up" live, hence why she sounded so different. I found this out on another forum a few days ago.

Probably they will, next year! They didn't because only albums that were released before a date (dunno what date) can compete, and they were released after this date ^^

Madonna's performance was great, but like ALL her other HU performances, just with the Sorry outfit lol I loved Kelly and Mariah as well!

i can recall a total of about4 awards presented total, yet i can recall like 8 performances. something's wrong here. was this an award show or a showcase of the music industry's elite?

I thought the grammy's were a bore. They didn't have the right people performing. And from reading an article on Yahoo this was the second lowest year for an audience watching the grammy, only about 18 milion people watched. They were beat out by American Idol. The Grammy's just doesn't attract the right age group like American Idol do. They should have had Amerie and Will Smith perform.

ugh...to be honest I though the the grammys this year were full of *******! Okay the hip-hop part i didn't really care for but...what I didn't like was the rock category. Okay, U2 wins all the awards...who really likes U2? I sure don't, and System of a Down wins? What about NIN or Audioslave? Robert Plant goes for an award? I didn't know he was still alive...So yeah, the Grammy's have no taste in music what so ever...it's just a bunch of geezers that pic what they like and not what everyone else likes...think about that.

well you know at least I would pick something that everyone likes instead of my own personal taste and you know what? That's considered spam, stay with the program.
