Envy: Compiled Fragments 1997-2003 out 6/20

Japanese screamo/post-rock band Envy will soon be releasing 'Compiled Fragments 1997-2003', a compilation of 13 out-takes and lives that have been recorded over the years, through Sonzai Records. I'm assuming it will thusly include music from their early hardcore days all the way to their current screamo/post-rock era. In any case, a release to look forward to.

Envy is one of the world's most innovative and refreshing bands, and it's easily the best band in the whole hardcore scene. Astonishing, captivating music - be sure to check them out. I'm going to quote smokingbeagle.com on this:

It's like they've found Tony's secret formula of isolating the non-sucky bits of emo, split the macho bullcrap from hardcore and burn off the pompous elements of post rock experimentation.

Rather accurate (although I myself don't consider post-rock to be pompous, but that aside, pretty darned accurate.)
