song covers...that you hate!

I hate this cover of Stairway to heaven that Dolly Parton does...it sounds so horrible! She doesn't have the voice for that song...no one else can sing or make that song as good as Led Zeppelin. oh yeah, and then theres Sheryl Crow's version of Sweet Child o Mine...she killed that song! It's supposed to be a metal song, not a country song.

So, are their any song covers you hate?

"Bittersweet Symphony" by Limp Bizkit -- ear abuse. Sometimes Limp Bizkit can get it right with a song, or they can get it very wrong.

I also hate that version of "Hurt" that Johnny Cash did. I don't see why they don't want to use NIN's version more in movies and what not.

There's also All Saint's version of "Under the Bridge"...I wished pop singers would stop trying to sing hard rock songs...its not right!

oh yeah, did anyone see the version of "Shook me All night long" by ACDC that Celine Dion did?...my god...

umm...when we met song covers, that's when someone performs a song that was originally performed by someone else...you're thinking about the Album Art...Deep River was written and sang by Utada Hikaru originally...

I think they're called Alien Ant Farm or something - they did a horrible cover of Smooth Criminal a few years ago, though the PV was quite clever. The fact that they were too cheap to go buy the CD to learn the lyrics from the booklet put me off it even more. If you're going to cover something you should at least know what the lyrics are.

Most cover versions I've heard, at least the person covering the song went to the trouble to get the lyrics and learn them. I wouldn't really call it originality listening to the song a few times on tape just to learn how to basically play the song and pick up some some of the lyrics along the way, to me it's just laziness and very cheap.

im sorry but are you friends of the band or something? how do u know they "listened to it a few times on tape, picking up some of the lyrics along the way"?
unless u were there when they discussed covering it / deciding exactly how they were gonna go about covering this song, i just think its a bit presumptuous of u 2write such things, but thats just my opinion

I liked Smooth Criminal I think it was one of the better covers I have heard...

I agree that Jessica Simpson covers suck in a really bad ubersuck way. In fact, pretty much anything she does sucks. She destroyed "Take my Breath Away" and "These Boots were Made For Walking"!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRR!!!!
