Sophie Ellis-Bextor's comeback!

Remember the hit dance anthem Murder On The Dancefloor? It was very popular, entered charts everywhere, even the US dance charts. The song, a hit across Europe and Asia, was by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, an amazing young British lady with a very sexy accent.

She released her first album soon after, Read My Lips, which had a few more Top 5 singles. Her album hit #2 and went triple-platinum later, after it was re-released. Everything was just great, nothing could go wrong. Overall, Read My Lips had three Top 3 singles. They are the #2 single Take Me Home, #2 single Murder On The Dancefloor and the #3 double-A single Get Over You/Move This Mountain. One more single was released, but it became her lowest charting single to date. Music Gets The Best Of Me only reached #14.

Then she recorded her sophomore album. Preceding the album was another hit single, Mixed Up World. It charted at #7 in the UK charts, which was great, but not as high as her previous singles. Her album, Shoot From The Hip, was released a few weeks later, but it only reached #19 in the UK. Even the next single in January, I Won't Change You, failed to revive sales despite the single also charting in the Top 10 at #9. It became a commercial flop eventhough reviews were a lot better than her debut.

And now she's BACK! It's been a very long wait for fans. Her new single will be the stunning Catch You that was written by Cathy Dennis. A rock/dance track, it's completely different from the music she used to make. No less catchy, be amazed once again. After Catch You is released in February 5 next year, the next single Me And My Imagination will be released, followed by the album Trip The Light Fantastic.

If you managed to read all that, you deserve this.

I love Sophie and this song... Cathy Dennis is my favourite song writer and she did'nt disappoint with this. I love it.

There a great combo... I still can't believe Sophie rejected "Can't get you out of my head" oh well, it was her loss.

Thanks for the song

It's so brilliant! I bought like 8 albums this week, and this song is making me not listen to those CDs. I just love Sophie more and more and more. I'm glad she's back, hope she gets big like Girls Aloud.

Some people at Popjustice have already heard the album and watched the video for the song dammit! The video shows Sophie looking for something in Venice, directed by Sophie Muller. Unfortunately, everything is top secret and no other info has been leaked. The reaction towards the album is excellent though. As long as it's not as filler-full as Read My Lips and more consistent than Shoot From The Hip, I'm satisfied.

Here's the Popjustice article, credits to UKMIX forums.

Cathy's demo appeared on the internet in the autumn, and Sophie's finished version appeared on the internet earlier today. The video is VERY GOOD INDEED and features Bextor looking for something. The video was directed by Sophie Mueller, the woman behind about a million other amazing videos, and Beyonce's 'Deja Vu'. 'Catch You' is the best thing Sophie has ever done......apart from some of the other bits on her new album ('Trip The Light Fantastic'), but that is all TOP SECRET and cannot be discussed for the time being, or at least until it leaks onto the intranot which will probably be in about three days. Let's hope she doesn't go round swinging dead foxes all over the place this time. She is not blonde any more. That's basically about it for the time being, so let's just recap on the two main points here:

1. Sophie is back
2. 'Catch You' is amazing

Woo!, thankyou

I so happy she's not blonde. To me she looked absolutley horrible blonde, especially in the "mixed up world" video. yuck. IMHO.

I like this song

I watched her sing it live on TV just after the New Year Countdown on the BBC. She forgot to turn the mic on so the first few lines were silent XD!

Lol i saw that too, laughed quite a bit infact . Personally i've never been too fussed on her, but her music isn't too bad (which is a compliment coming from me)

Here's a clip of Sophie Ellis-Bextor performing 'Catch You' on what looks like the worst New Year programme in televisual history. - PJ

She looks like such an ice queen and I love it.

Haha.. Cool. Thanks for the info & upload.
I liked Murder On The Dancefloor. Too bad I don't like this new song as much, but it's still good song.

I heard that the sound guy screwed up and gave Sophie the wrong mic. Sophie couldn't hear herself the entire performance. Jamelia also had the same problem, except Jamelia got irritated.
