First of all, let me get this clear: 1)They're a German band. Not American, not British, not whatever else you may have thought. 2) the main word in #1 is 'band'. "CASCADA" refers to all 3 of them. The lead singer's name is Natelie Horler, and she should be referred to as such. 3) 'CASCADA" is pronounced "kas-kah-dah". Not "kas-kay-dah".
[edit] Whoops. I didn't read the beginning of the initial post. Well, I consider Horler German. She was born to British parents, but it was in Germany. She resides in Germany, and is mostly active in Germany, so I consider her German... ---------------------------------- After their first album, I stopped listening to them. Their sound became way too pop. I mean, they were a perfectly legitimate hand up act, and they end up changing their style because of their reception. I guess I shouldn't get as worked up as I do, because there's still TUNE UP! and Manian (I never really took to Yanou), who've remained untainted by the American music market. But still... I mean, Everytime We Touch was more true to the genre (except for Truly, Madly Deeply, and Another You. But that's, again, because they're being aimed at audiences outside of Germany). Perfect Day was pretty much anything but. I mean, it sounded soooo pop it wasn't even funny. And now Evacuate The Dancefloor. Which I haven't heard, but I've read that they were venturing off into other genres completely. Its just really dissapointing, They're not even hands up anymore. More like dance-pop crap. I blame it on the audience's ignorance toward the genre. They're (or rather, were) the only widely known hands up act out there. So, they were over criticized for their songs sounding too similar. Its the genre, but no one understands that. And plus, Their albums only include the radio edits of all the songs. And I don't like the radio edits. I prefer to get the full/extended mixes. On their Remix Album from Everytime We touch, they included the extended mixes for the album tracks. But they never did that for their other albums. For that matter, I'd very much like to have remix albums for the other 2 albums. At least then it'd be hands up instead of whatever crap the original mixes are. As far as their prescence in the US market goes, I parallel them to Alexey Pahitnov, the creator of Tetris. He was so well known for Tetris, and everyone loved it so much, that no one ever bothered with his other productions. The same with the song Everytime We Touch. Many people never even bothered with their other music, which, at least their first album, was great. To my understanding, they're more popular in the UK and German market than in the US market. Of course, in the US market, they've pretty much fallen off the face of the charts. I don't beleive that its the same way in the UK & Germany. Then again, its not surprising, the way their US releases suck so much. Half of the tracklistings for everything post-Everytime We Touch (album) is either changed or missing completely. That's why I'm gonna import the release of Evacuate The Dancefloor. *sigh* Now I'm depressed and angry... I guess I'm done, but I may or may not continue this rant, if I think of anything else...
