Which Ayu release do you find the most nostalgic?
It doesn't necessarily have to be the first one you ever heard, it doesn't even have to be an original album, it could be a single, a compilation, or even a remix album.
The first single I ever listened to was glitter/fated, yet, it's only somewhat nostalgic to me. I find Mirrorcle World and talkin' 2 myself the two most nostalgic singles. Rock 'n' Roll Circus and Love songs are the most nostalgic to me album wise. Primarily because 2010 was the time I began to really follow Ayu. Also, it wasn't a particularly great year for me. Love songs is interesting one, as it was released around the time I returned to my hometown to see the person I was in a distance relationship with after a year of not seeing each other (not anymore, we live together now after three years apart!). So, it's quite nostalgic/significant to me, even if half the songs fail to impress me. LOVE and again were released in the time frame in which I returned, so I assume that they will also be super nostalgic in the future. Rock 'n' Roll Circus just reminds me of my Physics study. Blah. Negative nostalgia at its finest. Blah. |

A BEST 2 -BLACK- is nostalgic to me because I was having a rough time but always listened to that album. It helped me out. I'm not as emotionally frustrated as I was before, but I always love A BEST 2 -BLACK- <3

Depend on You was the first Ayu song I listened to. And M was the first PV I saw.
I think another nostalgic release to me would be the talkin' 2 myself release. I started to follow her just around that time.

The songs from I am... and the H single. I'm reminded of a time when I was new to Japan, still on "honeymoon mode" with hubby and so very happy.

the first song and pv i ever heard from ayu is YOU. i really loved that song, her voice and her looks/image. I just loved it~! i started following her ever since...
"A song for XX", "Surreal", "M", "vogue", "Unite", "No way to say", "Memorial Address" and "Carols" are the songs that i find most nostalgic... whenever i listen to these songs, i just can't help feeling those different emotions... bittersweet, happiness and sadness... |

Album: I am... because I discovered ayumi with evolution! So I still burn the **** out of this album and track. Album 2: Memorial Address. It was the very first album I preordered. Single 1: evolution. this is what started the madness for me. lol Single 2: moments. The very first single I preorder. |

Together when / talkin to myself single - I had a bad time and ended up listening to this song over and over , and cut my hair short like she had during that time. Shedding hair helps you overcome things!
"A" - trauma was the first I heard from Ayu, and I learned her dance too! And it was played at my first Ayu concert<3 monochrome is so deep and beautiful; but for a long time I thought the trance one was the original; so somehow it's the trace version that brings most memories |

fairyland and HEAVEN are the most nostalgic single to me, because one was a soundtrack for my first summer as ayufan and the other reminds me a time of my life that was hard and that song made me feel strong.
In albums, to me her most nostalgic album is GUILTY, although that album is not even one of my favourites xD |

Single wise...Dearest. Everytime dang time I hear those opening piano notes, I go straight to NOSTALGIA CITY!!
Song wise...No more words, one of my first Ayu songs. I remember being in 3rd grade listening to it right before the schoolbus came. The song brings up very odd and happy memories. Album wise...GUILTY, her first album to really stick with me. I was going through a hell of lot and when I heard Together When...., T2M, & saw the PV for Marionette, I go through flashbacks of angst, anger, and rages of craving Lindt Lindor chocolates... Yeeeahhhh...

Sunset ~Love Is All~
Not a song i care that much for anymore, but it was the first Ayu song i listened to and it was the first real step into Jpop for me. I only listened to BoA before. But Ayu kind of broadened my horizons by getting more and more interested in the genre.

Single wise: It's tied between Depend on you, INSPIRE, and fairyland (it was my first ayu single that I've purchased)
Album wise: Tied between RAINBOW and MY STORY PV wise: I want to say either fairyland or Fly high (it was my first ayu PV, honestly) |

glitter. It was my first Ayu song/release and also the very first PV I watched. <3
Also, not the release itself, but the song fairyland - because it was my favourite track from A BEST 2 -WHITE-, which was the first album (well, compilation) I heard in full after borrowing some CDs from my Dad's friend, Mark. I can remember listening to it lots during my gap year (2009-2010) as well as in my dorm at the beginning of my first year of college. ![]()

Dearest and mostly No more words, the first two Ayu songs I heard and the ones that led me to know who Ayu was, and she was pretty much what made me start liking asian music. Maybe if I had never listened to them I wouldn't have become a fan of asian music and I would just be like the other studants in my school at the time (I'm not in school anymore, it's been a really long time since then), really narrow minded kids who think that whatever comes from different places other than Brazil/USA is strange and who likes those things is just as strange and "not cool". Yeah, I'm really glad that I heard those songs, and they're always special for me because of that and really fell nostalgic when I listen to them now a days <3

the }{ single had just come out when i first got into ayu. i remember checking out independent on an asian music web site and saw the single cover of her sitting in a bikini top and jeans and thinking, "ugh, she's a **** like britney spears!" (i loathed american pop back then). but then later i saw she came out with Voyage and the pic was of her with the rainbow feather mohawk and i actually took the time to read her lyrics, and then i was like "she's freaking awesome!!!" and got hooked. so anything from RAINBOW to (miss)understood reminds me of high school. derp.
(miss)understood was the first album i bought from ayu. toward the end of her single releases in 2005, i was a senior in high school and was in a horrid depression from a bad breakup. i listen the **** out of that album and i remember the singles is this LOVE?, HEAVEN and rainy day were so TOTALLY about me ![]() ermahgerd and all the single releases and album release of Love Songs. such a transitional time in my life. i had just graduated college during that summer and apart from sending out my resume to a million different job postings, i was obsessed with MOON and Sweet Season. then around the time Love Songs actually dropped, i had already broken up with my college boyfriend of 4 years, was living on my own and doing the single thing of going out all the time and was working and pursuing a workplace crush (don't even get your honey where you make your money!) and everything seemed so chaotic yet i felt so... liberated ![]() the FIVE mini-album reminds me of the fall/pre-holidays of 2011 when i was stuck in a boring job where i was scanning all day and music was my only escape. i got really into japanese r&b and was really into this new soulful sound from ayu (ANother song was on repeat for a while, haha). plus, i always get nostalgic from october - december for some reason. just love those three months ![]() Last edited by Seiko Yua; 25th December 2012 at 05:06 AM. |
